Gargash: UAE will do everything necessary to prevent terrorist acts on its territory

Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, said the UAE has the legal and moral right to defend its territory, population and sovereignty.

Hans Grundberg, the UN secretary-general’s special envoy to Yemen, made the remarks during a telephone conversation, the official WAM news agency reported.
During the call, the Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President reviewed the nature of the sinful terrorist attack carried out by Houthi militias on civilian targets in the UAE.

He stressed that the United Arab Emirates has the legal and moral right to defend its territory, population and sovereignty, and will exercise this right to defend itself and prevent the terrorist acts of the Houthi group, which has been extending for three years, and reject all calls for a ceasefire and engagement in the political solution to the crisis, which is confirmed by the unjust and unjustified attack on civilian targets in the United Arab Emirates and before that the piracy incident against the relief ship “Rawabi” in a clear threat to international maritime routes.

He pointed to the need for a strong and firm position from the international community towards the intransigence and expansion of the terrorist acts of the Houthi militias and their violation of international laws and agreements, including the clear violation of the Stockholm Agreement, which they are doing without any deterrent, turning the port of al-Hudaydah into a port for maritime piracy and the financing of war and its military exploitation.

The UAE will continue to support international efforts for a ceasefire and a political solution, but will do everything necessary to prevent the threat of terrorist acts on its soil, he said.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation for the broad international solidarity with the UAE in the face of Houthi terrorism, as the number of countries and international organizations in solidarity reached more than 100.

He called for a clear position from the United Nations towards the terrorist and hostile acts carried out by the Houthi militias, whether towards the Yemeni people or the countries of the region, in addition to their threat to international maritime navigation.
