Mohamed ben Zayed: Sultan Al Neyadi represents a new beginning for the EAU’ ambition towards space


Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, said he was pleased that the first long-term mission for Arab astronauts was successfully launched Thursday.

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan wrote on his official Twitter account: “The UAE’s ambition is being carried by its son Sultan Al Neyadi on the second UAE mission to the International Space Station.. I pray that God will grant him success and return safely to his family and country.. We are proud of him and his likes for the young people of the UAE who are working to raise the flag of the country and enhance its contribution to the service of humanity”.

On Thursday, at 9:34 a.m. UAE time, SpaceXCROW6 launched its mission to the International Space Station (ISS), the first long-term mission for Arab astronauts.

Sultan Al Neyadi, a astronaut, was on board the Falcon 9 rocket from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral Base at the Kennedy Space Center.

The SpaceX Dragon Endeavor spacecraft is scheduled to take about 24 hours to reach the International Station and will complete a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station, the first long-term mission for Arab astronauts.
