Palestinian state television has denied the news about the death of Saeb Erekat
About the death of the secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, Palestinian state television has dismissed this news.
According to family members at the Hadassah Medical Center in Israel, the health of Erekat is now critical. Before that, Asharq television channel tweeted news about the death of Erekat however it had later removed the tweet from their confirmed account on Twitter.
On his part, Ali Erekat, the son of the Palestinian leader Saeb Erekat, affirmed to Al Arabiya that his father is remains undergoing treatment at Hadassah Hospital and that his health condition is serious but stable. He also expressed his anger at repeated rumors that spoke about his [Saeb Erekat’s] health condition.
A spokeswoman for the facility declared that Erekat, who was the Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), was hospitalized in Israel with COVID-19 and he placed on a ventilator on Monday after that his health condition was weakened.
It should be noted that Erekat was affected by the coronavirus on October 8, and was transferred to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center on Sunday from his home in the occupied West Bank. Moreover, he makes a lung-transplant operation in the United States in 2017.
The man with 65-year-old has been an important personality in Palestinian politics for decades; he is often working as a main speaker for foreign envoys and the international media. He has constantly expressed its support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
