The Jordanian Street Rises Against the Muslim Brotherhood… New Facts Emerge About the Terrorist Cell

Tensions are mounting in Jordan, with growing popular unrest directed at the Muslim Brotherhood, following last Tuesday’s revelation by Jordanian intelligence of a terrorist cell manufacturing missiles, explosives, and drones within the kingdom.

Yesterday, the University of Jordan — the largest in the country — witnessed a student demonstration demanding the banning of the Muslim Brotherhood and its political wing, the Islamic Action Front. The protest followed a statement issued by the unlicensed organization, claiming that the actions of 16 of its members — now involved in what is known as the “terrorist cell” case — were intended to support the “resistance” in Palestine. Observers viewed this statement as a direct admission of the group’s involvement in the incident.

Nour Al-Khattab, president of the University of Jordan’s student union, stated that although the terrorist cell linked to the Brotherhood enjoys some support, it remains limited in the country, and it must be dealt with legally to ensure national security.

Al-Khattab added that student movements in Jordan are aware of the dangers and ambitions of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is why they have begun mobilizing a student initiative to protect Jordanian youth from foreign ideologies aiming to sow discord and destruction.

In a related development, MP Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh told the local Roaya TV channel that “external calls are inciting the Muslim Brotherhood and Jordanian citizens to take to the streets.”

He stressed that those undermining Jordan’s security under the pretext of supporting Palestine are ultimately only serving the Zionist enemy.

Additionally, following a statement by Hamas inciting rebellion against the Jordanian state — which may escalate tensions — Brotherhood leaders have decided to freeze all public activities until the situation is resolved with the authorities, who have thus far refused communication or negotiations.

The Jordanian government confirmed that it will soon disclose new facts and measures regarding the Brotherhood’s cell and its links to the now-dissolved organization. Multiple sources indicate that recent arrests of senior members suggest close scrutiny of the group’s financial activities and funding sources.
