The Muslim Brotherhood infiltrates French universities: warning of a growing risk and a gateway to funding

A major controversy is sweeping through universities in France following the election of a representative from “Muslim Students of France,” described as being linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, to the National Council for University and School Affairs.

The Union Nationale Interuniversitaire, one of France’s main student unions, considered this development to be a new “infiltration” within universities, warning of potential impacts on student decisions and public services.

The French radio station Europe 1 stated: “The controversy intensified after the election of a member of what is known as ‘Muslim Students of France,’ regarded as close to the Muslim Brotherhood organization, to the National Council for University and School Affairs, the highest representative body for students in France.”

The station explained that “Muslim Students of France” is considered an organization close to the Islamist current, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, which could influence numerous decisions within universities.

The radio station also quoted French student activist Baptiste Gilli as saying: “These are organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.”

A representative of the Union Nationale Interuniversitaire added: “When such organizations obtain elected representatives, they can push their ideological agenda and impose orientations that do not align with the values of the Republic, such as separatist tendencies.”

According to Europe 1, obtaining a seat within the National Council for University and School Affairs means having a voice in shaping policies as well as access to public funding.

Baptiste Gilli explained: “This organization will be able to influence decisions within the National Council, and consequently within the Regional Centers for University and School Affairs, meaning everything that affects students’ daily lives: scholarships, university housing, and food services in university restaurants.”

He continued: “The radical left is fully complicit, as it allows this to happen and even uses the same strategy of entryism to strengthen its influence. Both sides are thus advancing toward greater influence within universities.”

For its part, the French newspaper Le Figaro reported that a new controversy erupted after the election of a member of “Muslim Students of France” within the Regional Centers for University and School Affairs.

The Union Nationale Interuniversitaire had previously warned of the risk of Muslim Brotherhood entryism in universities. On April 2, it stated that “political Islam is expanding within the Regional Centers for University and School Affairs thanks to an opportunistic alliance with two radical left organizations.”
