The truth behind Dior’s separation from Bella Hadid due to Gaza
The news of Dior parting ways with Bella Hadid due to the model’s recent comments on the conflict between Israel and Hamas sparked controversy on social media.
The Associated Press agency denied the news, stating, “Hadid’s contract with the luxury fashion house ended in March 2022, a long time before the recent conflict between Israel and the Hamas movement.”
Some media outlets reported that the French fashion house chose Israeli model May Tager for their new advertisement instead of Bella Hadid, despite Hadid being the face of Dior makeup and the brand’s first ambassador since 2016.
Rumors of Dior parting ways with the renowned model arose after a post where Hadid expressed solidarity with Gaza while condemning the October 7th attack.
Last August, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the globally known model for her statements regarding Palestinians in the West Bank. In an interview on Israeli Channel 12, Ben-Gvir asserted his right to freedom of movement as a Jewish settler, which, according to him, outweighs the same right for Palestinians.
Bella, a globally famous fashion model and a social media influencer of Palestinian descent, shared a clip of Ben-Gvir’s interview with her 59.5 million followers, accusing Ben Gvir of “racism.”
