UAE calls for Middle East peace process to achieve two-state solution

The United Arab Emirates stressed on Tuesday the need to seriously seek to relaunch a credible peace process leading to the achievement of the two-state solution.

In a speech at the Security Council, Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations in New York, stressed the freedom of the Palestinians to practice their religious rites.

The UAE delegate called on all parties to the Palestinian issue to avoid taking steps that could lead to increased tension and escalation.

In her speech, Nusseibeh expressed concern at the continuing practices of forced displacement of Palestinians and the demolition and confiscation of their homes.

The UAE representative praised Egypt’s efforts to resume the process of reconstructing the Gaza Strip and to establish calm in it.

The United Arab Emirates reaffirms its support for all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process.

The UAE also supports efforts to advance peace, in accordance with the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
