U.S. close to re-designating Houthis a Terrorist Organization
The United States is close to announcing a reclassification of Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization.
The American website Axios quoted private sources as saying: The White House National Security Council tends to reclassify the Houthis as a terrorist organization, while the State Department supports targeting specific Houthi leaders with sanctions, but not the Houthis as an organization.
Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said: The Biden administration will not hesitate to use sanctions and designations against Houthi leaders, he stressed, stressing that the U.S. administration will not delay in imposing sanctions on entities involved in military attacks against civilians or human rights violations, stressing that the United States remains committed to addressing the humanitarian emergency in Yemen.
After U.S. President Joe Biden announced about two weeks ago that putting Houthi militias back on the terrorist list is an issue, the Emirati embassy in Washington welcomed the matter, denouncing the militia’s firing of ballistic and cruise missiles at civilian targets.
The United Arab Emirates embassy in the United States ruled out the possibility of U.S. assistance in stopping the terror of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
In a statement issued yesterday and published by the Emirates News Agency, it pointed to ways to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid to Yemen, without being affected by the severe sanctions on the criminal militia.
