President of the Alliance for Tunisia: All parties that violate the law must be dissolved and held accountable
The head of the Alliance for Tunisia, Sarhan Nasri, called for the dissolution of Ennahdha and Heart of Tunisia and all parties found to be in violation of the law, and stressed the need to hold them accountable for the various crimes they committed.
In an exclusive interview, Nasri said: “We demand the freezing of all parties that have violated the law, the most prominent of which are the Ennahdha Movement and the Heart of Tunisia Party, whose names are mentioned in the report of the Court of Accounts”.
Nasri added: “We are facing a party accused of committing electoral crimes and terrorist files, such as the [Ennahdha] Movement’s assassinations and ambassadors, and there is another party accused of corruption and money laundering (the Heart of Tunisia Party), and this is not far from the actions of the mafia”.
“The violations in this regard concern not only the 2019 elections, but the previous elections in 2014, but there was a party that controlled the Supreme Judicial Council and was influential in the judicial system, he said. It is affiliated with Ennahdha and its allied parties, with which they shared ministerial portfolios as well as privileges in the justice and judicial fields, knowing that the movement is influential in this regard”.
Nasri said, “There are weaknesses and breaches in the judicial field and the judicial system; Therefore, we demanded the dissolution of the Supreme Judicial Council, not in its entity as a council, but in its composition. Even today’s decision does not represent a solution to the council as a structure, but rather a restructuring of the council; therefore, we welcomed this step”.
Regarding the developments of the case of the assassination of Chokri Belaid, Nasri considered that the facts that the defense team talked about condemn leaders of the Ennahdha Movement, Vice-President Al-Bashir Al-Akrami, and the Supreme Judicial Council. Although they are not conclusive evidence, the role of the public prosecution and the judicial framework should take them seriously and submit them for investigation, and whoever the party or person involved should be held accountable.
Regarding concerns about the viability of the roadmap presented by Tunisian President Kais Saied, Nasri said that “the legislative elections will be held on December 17, and before that there are entitlements, including the national dialog, the electronic national consultation, and Tunisians have to participate and give their opinions freely”. He considered that the deputies elected by Tunisians in the previous legislative elections were not up to the expectations of the people, and today to break this traditional corrupt path, there is an opportunity for the Tunisian people to come out and say their word and express their opinion directly.
Nasri commented on the protest carried out by the “Citizens against the Coup” initiative; Last Sunday, he described it as “a commercial stand that brought religious merchants together with those who deal in opinions and positions”. He added: “This is an opportunistic group that works for Ennahdha for a small fee”.
