Houthis release UAE ship Rawabi – An implicit confession of lies
The Houthi terrorist militia announced the day before yesterday the release of a United Arab Emirates cargo ship after it was detained for three months, following an Omani mediation.
The Twitter account of the pro-Iranian group Mohammed Abdul Salam said the crew of the UAE ship Rawabi, seized for allegedly entering Yemeni territorial waters illegally, had been released.
Abdul Salam said this was done based on Omani efforts and after taking all the necessary legal measures, without giving more details about the ship’s future destination.
The United Arab Emirates and Oman did not release details about the Houthi militia spokesman.
According to observers, the release of the ship is evidence of the falsehood of the Houthi claims regarding the assets on board, and an implicit acknowledgement of the ship’s piracy and violation of international laws in this regard.
On January 3, the Houthi militia announced the capture of the UAE cargo ship Rawabi off the western coast of Hodeidah province. The Saudi-led coalition accused the Houthis of abducting the vessel.
The Houthis claimed that the UAE cargo ship was carrying military materiel when they captured it in the Red Sea, and the coalition said the ship was carrying medical equipment, posting numerous photos and videos to prove its narrative, and discredit the Houthis’ narrative.
The Sultanate of Oman is playing a prominent role in ongoing efforts to consolidate the truce in Yemen and pave the way for negotiations between the parties to the conflict, in the hope of ending the explosive conflict since 2015. Despite the Houthi group’s daily violations of the truce, and its attempt to exploit it to regroup and prepare cities for future battles, the Houthis’ recent release of the crew of the UAE ship Rawabi is an attempt on their part to market to the international community their openness to compromise.
