Hygiene: Are the French really the dirtiest in Europe?

A study unveiled on Tuesday somewhere thwarts the prejudices about the French people’s supposed filth, writes TF1.

However, in France, the daily change of underwear is less widespread among men.

Are the French dirty? A study unveiled on Tuesday tweaked a common cliché when it comes to comparing hygiene in Europe, TF1 reports.

According to Ifop for XloveCam, the worst performers since the Covid crisis have been in Italy.

According to the study, more than three out of four French people (76%) perform a complete toilet daily. This figure is much higher than that of the Italians (53%) but also of the British (68%) while the Germans (77%) and especially the Spaniards (82%) prove to be the cleanest, adds the same source.

The French in tail

In detail, however, the French are the Europeans who change their underwear or underwear the least often, with more than one in four men (27%) who can reuse it from one day to the next. They are at the bottom of the European pack behind the British (25%), Italians (23%), Germans (23%) and Spaniards (18%).

Women are much more likely than men to change underwear every day. “The proportion of women who change their panties on a daily basis is more massive (93% on average in the five countries studied) and relatively homogeneous with a rate ranging between 92% (United Kingdom, Germany) and 97% (Spain),” the study says.
