Queen Elizabeth II dies – UK’s Longest-Serving Monarch Was 96

Earlier in the day, Britain witnessed movements that raised concerns about the health of the Queen, and prompted many Britons to come to Balmoral Palace to check on her.

British newspaper ‘The Guardian’ reported that Prime Minister Liz Truss was sitting on the front seats of the House of Commons when Lancaster County advisor Nadim Zahawi arrived in the room. He sat next to her and immediately began talking to her and she seemed “scared”.

According to the newspaper, “a written note was sent to the Labor leader present at the hearing, Keir Starmer, as well as to House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Howell.”

About 20 minutes before the Buckingham Palace announcement, Labor MP Chris Bryant tweeted: “Something strange is happening in the House of Commons, Zahawi is bringing something to the attention of the Prime Minister urgently.”

The BBC’s Jack Straw appeared in a black tie and the reporter in front of the Balmoral palace, where Queen Elizabeth II is in black.

The announcement follows the 96-year-old queen’s cancelation of a virtual meeting of her Council of Advisors on Wednesday, following doctors’ advice to rest.

Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla of the Duchess of Cornwall, arrived in Balmoral, and Prince Williams of Cambridge, next to the Duke d’York, Earl and the Countess of Sussex.

Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-serving monarch in British history. She was born in 1926 and became queen when her father, King George VI, died in 1952.

Her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, died on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99 after a marriage journey that began in 1947, five years before she became queen. They had four sons, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
