IAEA report: Iran starts to feed uranium gas into advanced centrifuges underground

A UN nuclear watchdog report obtained by Reuters reported on Wednesday that Iran has started feeding uranium hexafluoride (UF6) gas feedstock into the advanced IR-2m uranium-enriching centrifuges placed at its underground plant at Natanz.

In fact, this move is the latest violation by Iran of its nuclear agreement with major powers that declare it could only accumulate enriched uranium with first-generation IR-1 machines, and those are the only ones that it could operate at the underground plant. Moreover, a previous IAEA report state that Iran had established IR-2m machines underground.

The International Atomic Energy Agency report to member states dated Tuesday related that on 14 November 2020, the Agency verified that Iran began feeding UF6 into the recently installed cascade of 174 IR-2m centrifuges at the Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP) in Natanz.
