Advisor to the Palestinian President: Hamas has caused the crisis… and Netanyahu continues his obstinacy
Hamas has caused the crisis... and Netanyahu continues his obstinacy
The military movements of Israeli occupation forces in Rafah have sparked anger from international organizations, who emphasized that the announcement of evacuating areas in Rafah and the forced displacement of fleeing displaced persons several times in a few months were inhumane, with no safe shelter to turn to amidst thousands of children being left without their guardians.
António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, stressed the urgent need to exert all necessary efforts to reach an agreement and end the current suffering of Palestinians. In a statement attributed to his spokesperson, the Secretary-General expressed deep concern about indications of a large-scale military operation in Rafah, stating: “We are already witnessing movements of people, many of them in desperate humanitarian situations, having been displaced multiple times. They are searching for shelter they have been deprived of repeatedly.”
Israel’s Objectives
In this regard, Mahmoud Al-Habash, advisor to the Palestinian president, stated: “We must not fall victim to Israeli deception and camouflage in talking about the Israeli objectives of the aggression, emphasizing that the goals of the Israeli Prime Minister of the occupation are not what he claims.”
He added that Netanyahu did not want to eliminate the Hamas movement, and still does not, but he wants to settle the Palestinian issue. He attempted to liquidate the Palestinian issue as a national liberation issue of a people under occupation by exploiting the coup carried out by Hamas in 2007 and the separation of the Gaza Strip from the West Bank.
The advisor to the Palestinian president continued: “Netanyahu invoked this separation to tell the world that there is no Palestinian consensus or unified Palestinian position. Every time he meets someone on the international stage, he tells us that if you were united, your position would be better, and who presented this card to Netanyahu to benefit from it?! Isn’t it Hamas?! Therefore, Netanyahu uses this card to liquidate the Palestinian issue.”
Hamas Involvement
He explained that “Hamas provided all the excuses to Israel to trigger wars against Gaza”, emphasizing that the Palestinian movement does not want the prisoners to be released as much as it wants to stay.
For its part, the Palestinian presidency affirmed that it was “conducting intensive contacts with regional and international parties, especially American, to stop the massacre of the invasion of Rafah.”
