More than a year after its wreck… Design flaw discovered in the Titan

New expert analyses reveal that the Titan submarine’s wreck, which occurred in June 2023, may be due to a “design flaw,” according to a report published by the British Daily Mail.

The report states that recent analyses by scientists studying the wreckage of the submarine owned by OceanGate have uncovered shocking details about the incident that led to the crew’s death.

According to the report, investigations suggest that the submarine experienced a malfunction days before its journey, causing the passengers to be jolted inside.

During a hearing before the U.S. Coast Guard committee, Dr. Steven Ross explained that the accident started when one of the crew members hit the front bulkhead, where water began leaking into the submarine.

This indicates that the issue began at the front of the submarine before spreading to the rest of the structure.

Astrophysicist Scott Manley provided further explanation, suggesting that the flaw occurred at the connection point between the carbon fibers and the titanium ring in the submarine’s structure.

He pointed out that water flow from the front caused the submarine to tear apart rapidly from the inside.

New footage of the wreckage shows that the Titan did not explode from the center as previously thought but rather had its front detached, leading to the collapse of the rear part of the structure.
