Germany… Is the End of the Muslim Brotherhood Near?
Yesterday, the German Parliament’s Committee on Internal Affairs began deliberations on a proposed resolution aimed at banning the Muslim Brotherhood, citing the group’s threat to national security in Germany.
The proposal, submitted by the parliamentary group of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, is titled: “Ensuring Long-Term Internal Security: Prioritizing the Fight Against Crime, Terrorism, and Anti-Semitism.”
Following a general debate the day before yesterday, the parliamentary administration decided to refer the proposal to the Committee on Internal Affairs for further discussion and reporting before a vote in the full parliament.
The resolution calls for the final ban of “Islamic and anti-Semitic organizations” in a timely manner, always considering the legal framework and the scope of permissible actions under the rule of law.
The proposal specifically identifies the Muslim Brotherhood and its branches in Germany as the most critical organization that should be banned in the country.
According to the proposal’s text, the AfD party stresses that banning the Muslim Brotherhood requires concrete executive measures, particularly against the Muslim Community Association in Germany (DMG)—the main arm of the Muslim Brotherhood on German soil—as well as against its affiliated organizations.
Additionally, the proposal urges authorities to examine mosque associations to detect “possible infiltration attempts by the Muslim Brotherhood, particularly concerning the training of imams, the spread of Islamist extremist ideologies, and potential foreign influence and control.” It also calls for immediate action to counter these risks.
Furthermore, the proposal calls for a realignment of counter-extremism and counter-terrorism policies, aligning them with documented threats and statistically verified security risks, as well as politically motivated violent crimes, to enhance the overall strategy against this growing danger.
The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, alongside the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU, center-right), is among the most vocal political forces in Germany pushing for a crackdown on political Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood, which is widely labeled as a terrorist organization in German political circles.
