The United States has announced a reward of up to $15 million in exchange for information that exposes or disrupts the financial sources supporting the terrorist Houthi militia in Yemen.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the U.S. State Department on Tuesday, confirming the enforcement of President Donald Trump’s decision to designate the Houthi militia as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.”

The statement reads: “The State Department’s Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of up to $15 million for information that leads to the disruption of Houthi financial sources.”
The statement also highlighted that “Houthi activities threaten the security of American citizens and personnel in the Middle East, the safety of regional partners, and the stability of global maritime trade.”
Since 2023, “the Houthis have carried out hundreds of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as on U.S. troops defending freedom of navigation and regional partners,” the statement added.

It further noted that “the Houthis have recently refrained from targeting ships flying the Chinese flag while attacking U.S. and allied vessels.”
The United States warned in its statement that it “will not tolerate any nation engaging with terrorist organizations such as the Houthis under the guise of legitimate international business,” emphasizing that “terrorist designations play a crucial role in the fight against terrorism and are an effective tool to limit support for terrorist activities.”
