Libya is preparing to launch national vaccination campaign


Libya is preparing to declare the start of national vaccination campaign, while the coronavirus cases surpassed 166,000 in the country.

On Thursday, the National Center for Disease Control issued guidelines, appealing citizens who hope to receive the vaccine to continually check body temperature, coughing, critical diseases, or any type of allergy. The Center also affirmed that any lateral effects should be checked, particularly one to three weeks after receiving the vaccine.

On Sunday, Libya got the first lot of Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V. On his part, Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh said: It is the first drop of rain. Thank God, we are able to supply the first batch of coronavirus vaccine, adding that the rest of the shipment will arrive in succession, without proving more details.

WHO Libya support the government of Libya

WHO Libya showed its commitment to keep its support to the government of Libya, and the National Center for Disease Control in the combat against COVID-19.

WHO declared that certain volunteers are doing more efforts in Benghazi for the awareness in the community. Besides, they are issuing facemasks, sterilizers, and fliers guide with the support of USAID.

Moreover, the Primary Health Care Institute (PHCI) in collaboration with the Center held a workshop to offer training about the distribution of vaccines.

Otherwise, twenty-seven new deaths have been registered in 11 Libyan cities, which increasing the total fatalities to 28,000. The National Center further declared on Thursday that up to 869 new cases have been registered in Libya, while recoveries attained 152,000.
