Houthis continue their violations in Yemen


It’s probably that a new Houthi-run fund in Yemen would add to the fight of guaranteeing a fair distribution of humanitarian aid in the fight-weary country, while experts alerting that the Iran-aligned group is seeking to extend the range of resources directed on its war effort.

The militia’s so-called Higher Council for Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs, which is a cover agency Houthis established two years ago to hide their exploitation and taking humanitarian aid originally donated to needy Yemenis, would managed and operated the fund.

In what a circulars about the fund indicated, Houthis are obliging all international and local organizations working in Sanaa and other areas that they control to present their donations to Yemen in the fund’s bank accounts.

More violations of Houthis

Indeed, dozens of international agencies were advised to not giving any money to projects directed by local organization before getting the approval of Houthi. Besides, activists and humanitarian workers in Sanaa and other Houthi-run areas alerted that Houthis are preparing to totally transfer aid to release the suffering of Yemenis.

According to sources with knowledge of the issue, the militia seeks that donated funds distributed exclusively to its affiliated agencies and associations. Moreover, Houthis keeps engaging in terrorist assaults and their efforts to monopolize foreign aid.

The Iran-aligned group and during five years created hundreds of fake organizations that have taken assistance from other local organizations that were forbidden from applying for aid and relief funds, and most Houthi-run agencies that have taken financial assistance are not successfully realizing any of their submitted relief projects.

Otherwise, the UN’s Yemen Humanitarian Fund 2020 Annual Monitoring Report showed that about half of the humanitarian projects for Yemen have not been executed yet, while certain being only incompletely implemented. It should indicate that the report showed an overview of the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) monitoring activities in 2020.
