A tragic end for five teenagers in Algeria… a picnic that turns into a group funeral
5 teenagers in Algeria never thought their joy of spending the Eid al-Adha picnic would be turned into a mass funeral.
5 young men of prematurely Southern Algeria went out on a picnic for Eid Al-Adha and did not come back, until they returned dead bodies days after they left the country’s vast desert.
The bodies of the young men were found in the desert of the region of Telegmine, some 30 kilometers from Ain Saleh province, exactly in the southernmost part of Algeria on the border with Mali, after a search by the region’s residents and the state’s security authorities took place on the third day of Eid al-Adha.
According to local media, the teenagers went out on a “roast” trip to greet the Eid sacrifice. Their method included simple motorcycles, which are common in the Algerian desert on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
There were conflicting reports in the Algerian media about the causes of their deaths, but the most likely hypothesis is that they ran out of petrol to die of thirst, an area known for its record temperatures.
Security forces have opened an investigation into the deaths of the 5 teenagers, whose bodies were transferred to the Ain Saleh hospital.
