Images.. An amazing process to reveal the original shape of the faces of three Egyptian mummies
An amazing operation to uncover the faces of three men who lived in ancient Egypt more than 2,000 years ago, Live Science reported.
The three men’s faces were constructed using DNA data from their mummified remains, the source said, adding that the digital process led to the depiction of the faces of the three men at the age of 25.
The three mummies came from Abu Sir Al Malaq, an ancient Egyptian city on a flood plain south of Cairo.
The trio is referred to as JK2134, dated 776-569 BC, JK288, estimated to have lived between 97-2 BC, and JK2911, believed to have lived between 769-560 BC.
Live Science explained that in 2017, scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Human History Sciences in Tübingen, Germany, sequenced the DNA of the mummies.
The photographs showed young men carrying haircuts similar to those currently in circulation, giving an idea of an urban lifestyle in ancient Egypt.
A few days ago, researchers at Parabon NanoLabs, a DNA technology company in Reston, Virginia, used that genetic data to create 3D models of mummies faces.
In a statement, the representatives of Parabon said: “This is the first time this type of operation has been conducted.”
