How the Muslim Brotherhood Infiltrated the Heart of Europe

The Muslim Brotherhood found fertile ground in the Islamic centers spread throughout European cities to infiltrate the heart of Europe. These centers, initially intended for worship and fostering bridges between Muslim communities and broader society, were gradually transformed into platforms for recruitment and strategic planning that go beyond the bounds of religion and tolerance—serving instead the Brotherhood’s ideological project disguised as religious-political rhetoric.

An analytical article published by the Emirati newspaper Al-Bayan confirmed that the Brotherhood took advantage of the religious and cultural vacuum in some European communities and exploited societal divisions to spread distorted ideas. Their narrow interests were converted into organized plans and tactics: their discourse often begins with a message of moderate Islam that aligns with Western democracy, but over time shifts toward an ideology that contradicts moderation and fundamental values of human coexistence.

The article notes that many Islamic centers in Europe have suffered from this influence, becoming channels for the Brotherhood’s ideology and obscure alliances. Not content with merely benefiting from these institutions, the Brotherhood has sought to take them over. The Irish Islamic Cultural Centre serves as a telling example.

Founded more than thirty years ago by the Al Maktoum Foundation and initiated by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the center was intended to promote Islamic values, preserve identity, and build bridges with Irish society, according to Al-Bayan.

However, over time, extremist groups attempted to seize control of the center, aiming to distort its message of peaceful Islam and replace it with a radical narrative, clearly influenced by Brotherhood ideology in Dublin.

The paper reports that Muslim communities have rejected this misuse of places of worship, decrying poor management and lack of vision. They insist on restoring the center’s noble mission—serving both faith and society—a stance unwelcome by the Brotherhood and the capitals that support terrorism.

In response to growing tensions, disruptions, and manipulation, the new administration decided to temporarily close the center as a precautionary measure to safeguard its visitors and program participants.
