Inspirational youth projects.. How UAE’s youth are preparing for COP 28 on climate change in the UAE
As massive preparations continue for the COP28 climate summit, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has highlighted the skills and creativity of UAE youth and their inspiring projects to work towards climate change and mitigation.
The UAE is beginning to empower youth’s vision for the World Climate Conference, as the country sees youth as the world’s inspiration for the future.
Youth Investment
The UAE is unique in its focus on investing in youth from the inception phase until now, because of its belief in the importance of youth capital as the main driver of its development plans and its renaissance. In the first event organized by the presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), a group of inspired young people are participating in the city of Expo, Dubai.
Expo Dubai is an important stop for youth and society in the march to raise awareness and mobilize efforts towards COP28 as the road to COP28 coincides with the conference’s efforts to promote and accelerate global climate action.
A number of young people are participating in the COP28 Road Festival through a number of projects. According to newspapers, young people are the source of energy conservation for their projects.
Emirati Nahali Company
Maneh Al-Kaabi, CEO of Nahali Company in the UAE, said he is participating in the COP28 Road Project through the Nahali Emirates Project.
The group also produced over 10 years more than 200 tons of UAE sprouting honey and 200 tons of UAE lotus honey, he said. It also worked in accordance with the principles of the state, with sustainable beekeeping as a top priority for the company, from 100% natural honey products to support ecotourism and help spread awareness of the bees’ role and importance in preserving biodiversity, as well as raising awareness about the agricultural riches of the UAE.
Al-Kaabi added that he is keen on supporting the issue of food security for the honey and bee sector. In press statements, he indicated that the company has a wide network of international and local relations, and ties that keep the youth track to preserve the environment.
Agriculture and food security
Through the Organic Farms Project, Saeed Al-Romaithi said that the projects are based on three factors: agricultural benefits, food security and environmental health. He explained that the farm primarily provides organic vegetables and local dairy products, in order to achieve the goal of food production security in the United Arab Emirates, in addition to spreading awareness of the importance of organic food security and its benefits for a healthy community.
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently announced the launch of the official logo and visual identity for the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which the UAE will host in November of this year.
