“Islamic cooperation”: Houthi attack on Abha airport a ‘’war crime’’

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the Houthi attack that targeted Abha International Airport again with a car bomb, stressing that it is a “war crime.”

OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmed Al Uthaymeen expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the threats made by Al-Houthi terrorist militias against civilians in targeting Abha International Airport.

“Endangering the lives of passengers and civilians is a cowardly terrorist act, a war crime and a grave violation of international humanitarian law,” he said.

Al Uthaymeen renewed the OIC’s support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to deal with the practices of the Al-Houthi terrorist militias, in order to preserve its security, stability and the safety of citizens and residents on its territory.

Al Uthaymeen called on the international community to take firm positions to stop the continuation of the cowardly threats of ballistic missiles and booby-trapped aircraft in a systematic and deliberate way by the Houthi militias targeting civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia.

Four Saudi Abha airport workers sustained minor injuries as a result of the interception of an aircraft that was driven by Houthi militias towards the airport on Thursday.

According to the Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen, the windows of some of the airport’s facades were smashed.

The coalition “is taking operational measures to identify the sources of threat used in the attack on Abha International Airport,” the statement said.

Later, the Arab alliance announced the destruction of the launch site of the booby-trapped drone that had attempted to target Abha airport.

He said the attack in Saada province included a launcher and a crew that carried out the bomb and fired.

“The Iranian-backed Houthi militia is intensifying its targeting of Saudi Arabia, with drones and bomb boats, frustrated by the vigilance of the Saudi-led coalition.”

Al-Houthi’s attacks on civilian areas in Saudi Arabia have drawn condemnation from Arab and international sources, saying their continuation undermines the resolution of the Yemeni crisis.
