Leak of U.S. Vice President’s Movements: Secret Service Agent Under Investigation

A U.S. Secret Service agent is under internal investigation on suspicion of leaking sensitive information about the movements of the American vice president.

A Secret Service agent assigned to protect U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is undergoing an internal review after allegedly leaking information that was used in a news report detailing aspects of Vance’s movements.

The U.S. network, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that officials had identified the individual, who has been placed on administrative leave.

According to the source, the agency’s internal affairs division is reviewing the case. It remains unclear whether disciplinary action will be taken or whether criminal charges will be filed.

The employee is suspected of having been a source for a report recently published by a news website, which described frustration among some members of the vice president’s protective detail over the burden that his personal travel schedule places on his security team.

The report also included details about Vance’s travel plans, including his intention to travel with his son aboard a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter to attend a golf lesson. The plans were later canceled.

The first source said the report drew the attention of officials at the Secret Service, the FBI, and the White House, who were reportedly furious that operational details had been leaked to the press.

The development comes as the Trump administration has pledged to crack down on what it considers unauthorized leaks of information to the media.
