Snowstorm Sweeps across Parts of the United States


Parts of the United States experienced heavy snowfall, leading to accumulations of varying depths.

According to The Mirror, “heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures swept through western New York,” disrupting traffic.

CNN reported that “over two million people in the Great Lakes region were under winter weather advisories. Winter storm warnings were also issued near Lakes Superior and Michigan.”

The network also noted “significant snowfall over the weekend in parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.”

In Barnes Corners, northern New York State, snowfall reached up to 117 centimeters.

The U.S. Army’s Fort Drum base in New York issued a warning about “snowfall up to 48 centimeters thick during the day.”

Authorities banned commercial vehicles from traveling on a highway in western New York.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, a polar cold wave swept through several states last week.

This freezing wave is expected to spread over the eastern United States by Monday, causing temperatures to drop below seasonal averages.
