UAE: Pioneering Efforts in Combating Terrorism and Calling for International Coordination of Border Security


“A pioneering counterterrorism effort and a call for international coordination to strengthen border security.” The United Arab Emirates participated in an international conference in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.

The International Conference, attended by President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, was held under the theme “International and regional cooperation in border security and management, combating terrorism and preventing the movement of terrorists”.

The UAE participated in the conference through a delegation headed by Salem Mohammed al-Zaabi, director of the Department of International Cooperation at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the presence of a number of foreign ministers and the UN Assistant Secretary-General.

Speaking at the conference, al-Zaabi said, “The UAE supports international efforts made in the framework of border security and management, combating terrorism and preventing the movement of terrorists.”

Al-Zaabi reviewed the UAE’s pioneering efforts in combating terrorism and urged intensified international co-ordination to strengthen border security and management through joint mechanisms and action plans.

The conference aims to strengthen regional and international cooperation and partnerships, and to share experiences on the development and implementation of counter-terrorism approaches.

Preventive measures to counter extremism, as well as enhanced political support for United Nations counterterrorism efforts.
