The Vietnamese government has announced that at least 24 people have died and 299 were injured over the past two days due to Typhoon Yagi and the resulting landslides and floods in the northern part of the country.

The typhoon, which was the strongest storm in Asia this year, made landfall on the country’s northeastern coast on Saturday.
In a statement, the government said the typhoon disrupted electricity and telecommunications in several parts of the country, mostly in the provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong.
