Was Nasrallah Injured in the Phone Explosions in Lebanon?

He is known for his extreme caution regarding mobile phones, even going so far as to call them the “killer agent,” but did he survive the “pager” explosions?

This refers to Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, who caught the attention of many following the explosions that targeted hundreds of portable wireless phones belonging to party members on the evening of Tuesday.

According to a source from the party, the targeting of a primitive communication tool represents “the largest intelligence breach” the party has faced to date.

Simultaneous explosions of communication devices in various Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon have raised doubts about Nasrallah’s safety—whether he was among the injured or if his “technology phobia” allowed him to escape.

In February, Nasrallah sparked controversy among Lebanese when he linked the assassination of Hezbollah leaders by Israel to breaches resulting from the use of smartphones.

At the time, he urged his supporters to “give up mobile phones,” warning that they were “killer agents.”

Later, a Hezbollah official told Reuters that Hassan Nasrallah had not been harmed in the communication device explosions.

“Pager Storm”

According to the Lebanese Minister of Health, the explosions resulted in 8 deaths and approximately 2,750 injuries.

Meanwhile, sources close to Hezbollah told AFP that hundreds of Hezbollah members were injured by simultaneous explosions of communication devices they were carrying in different regions.

A source close to Hezbollah told AFP that this incident, the first of its kind since the exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel about a year ago, was an “Israeli breach.”

An AFP photographer in the southern suburbs of Beirut saw dozens of ambulances transporting the injured to hospitals as a large number of people gathered in the area.

An AFP correspondent in the Bekaa, eastern Lebanon, also reported that dozens of people were injured in similar incidents.

At the American University Hospital in Beirut, another photographer saw dozens of ambulances carrying the wounded.

An AFP photographer on the road between Sidon and Tyre (south) saw dozens of ambulances moving in both directions.
