Iran: Khamenei’s Directives on Coordination Framework

Iraqi political sources revealed last Monday a message sent by the Shiite “coordination framework” to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei regarding an alliance with the leader of the Sadrist movement in Iraq, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Russia Today quoted private sources as saying that “some parties to the coordination framework conveyed in a letter to Khamenei what they received from al-Sadr regarding his acceptance of the alliance with them on the condition that there is no State of Law coalition led by Nouri Al-Maliki”.

“In their message, the authors stressed the need for unity of the coordination framework”, it said.
“The response from Khamenei, through Quds Force commander Ismael Qaani, underscores the importance of preserving the unity of the framework, even if it costs not participating in the government and going to the opposition”, the sources said.

Khamenei’s message emphasized the need to form a united front from the forces of the coordination framework and its armed militias against the Sadr-Sunni-Kurdish tripartite alliance, reflecting the instability that will prevail in Iraq in the near future, according to Al-Hadath.com.
It is worth mentioning that recently, there was a message from al-Sadr to the coordination framework, which includes the parties objecting to the election results, indicating that the leader of the Sadrist movement does not have a problem in allying with them, if al-Maliki is outside the framework.
