Yemen government demand end to Houthi siege of Taiz
Hours after the reopening of Sana’a International Airport, after nearly six years of closure as a result of the control of the Houthi terrorist group, supported by Iran, the Yemeni government yesterday called on the international community, the United Nations, and the UN envoy to pressure the Houthi militia to implement the truce, and stop its violations on various battlefronts.
In a tweet on his official Twitter account, Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar al-Eryani demanded “the immediate and unconditional lifting of the siege on the city of Taiz and the harnessing of revenues from oil derivatives through the port of Hodeida to pay the salaries of state employees”.
“The government makes successive concessions and deals positively and responsibly with the initiatives, in affirmation of its commitment to support the efforts of pacification and the establishment of a comprehensive peace in accordance with the three references, and its keenness to end the suffering of millions of Yemenis exacerbated by the war triggered by the coup, including those living in areas under Houthi control”, he added.
Al-Eryani said that the Houthi terrorist militia, on the other hand, “continues, at Iranian behest, to undermine the truce efforts and put obstacles and obstacles in the way of implementing the truce articles, by violating the ceasefire”. He accused the Houthi group of “fabricating excuses to avoid their commitments to lift the siege on Taiz, and directing oil derivative revenues to pay the salaries of state employees without regard for the humanitarian situation”.
Earlier in the day, Washington welcomed the resumption of flights from Sanaa airport and called on Paris to open roads in Taiz without delay. UN envoy to Yemen Grundberg welcomed the resumption of flights from Sanaa airport and stressed the need to implement the rest of the truce.
