Mahsa Amini’s father denies the Medical Report: ‘My daughter’s death was caused by blows to the head’
Three weeks after the death of a young woman whose case sparked mass protests in Iran, the regime has sought to escape responsibility.
The Iranian Organization of Forensic Medicine published a report, claiming that the cause of Mahsa’s death “was not a blow to the head or vital organs, but a brain damage due to an operation conducted by her, at the age of eight.”
The report of the organization, which is affiliated to the judiciary, did not last for several hours, until Amjad Amini, Mahsa’s father, came out to reject the report, saying that “his remarks on Mahsa’s body do not correspond to the report published by the Judicial Medical Authority, which is affiliated with the authorities.”
He added in an interview with Voice of America radio in the Persian version, referring to the report, “It’s a lie! “I swear to God, Mahsa didn’t have any kind of disease, and she didn’t even go to the clinic, except for a simple cold, and she was athletic.”
“Her remarks on the body are not in line with the report of the Justice Medical Organization, and this report is not acknowledged,” Amini said.
“He saw blood on his daughter’s body, on the back of her neck and ears, and many parts of her body, including her legs with bruises. How can you accept that Masha was not beaten?””.
“He repeatedly asked the authorities to show people the video inside the morality police car, but they say the cameras were not working,” he said.
Amjad Amini responded to the forensic report that Mahsa was treating and taking pills every day, saying that “the pills she was taking were due to the thyroid, and had nothing to do with the surgery performed 15 years ago.”
The Organization of Forensic Medicine had said Friday in a report that “the death of Mahsa Amini due to the failure of many of the body’s devices was the result of a lack of oxygen in the brain, and not because it was hit on the head or other organs of her body.”
Hand over the corpse
On Friday, Iranian authorities handed over the body of Emad Haidari, an activist in the Arab city of Ahvaz, to his family after he died under torture in the Intelligence Directorate detention center in the city.
“Emad Haidari died of a stroke in the detention facility in the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz,” the authorities said.
Heidari was arrested nine days before popular anti-regime protests broke out in Iranian cities, following the death of the girl as Mahsa Amini.
“Emad Haidari was summoned to the Ahvaz intelligence department and was later arrested,” IranWire reported, citing human rights sources.
“Members of Emad Haidari’s family were threatened by the security men not to hold any kind of funeral or funeral for their son after his body was received on Friday,” the sources said.
The Response to Repression
As the crackdown on protesters continues, 20 human rights groups have called on US President Joe Biden to confront and punish the Iranian regime for its continued crackdown on protesters.
The organizations and institutions asked the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to investigate “crimes committed by the Iranian government in response to popular protests.”
Internet blackouts in Iran continue to rise as information about the protests is blocked, and reports indicate that internet restrictions have “entered a new phase” and that filtering software often does not work.
