Falsification of the reasons for the death of al-Zawahiri – Al-Qaeda’s Plot to Make Deals with the Taliban

According to informed sources, al-Qaeda is seeking to falsify the death of its leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri. The sources claim the death was the result of ill health, but the falsification indicates secret understandings with the Taliban regarding the naming of al-Zawahiri’s successor in the coming period.

Sources added that since the assassination of al-Zawahiri in a US raid in Kabul, Al-Qaeda has deliberately failed to declare an official reason for al-Zawahiri’s death or to name a successor to the organization’s leadership.

The repercussions have become a clear sign of confusion at the level of al-Qaeda’s central command, the sources said.

Pleasing the Taliban and the Iranian side

The Daily Beast revealed that Al-Qaeda’s new strategy is aimed at satisfying the Taliban and the Iranian side.

The newspaper reported that al-Qaeda planned to fake the death of its leader after secret meetings with the Taliban on the pretext of his ill health.

The newspaper said the deliberate silence was a failure to communicate with Saif al-Adel, al-Zawahiri’s alleged successor, who is taking refuge in Iran.

Fagrant violations

The United States said that the presence of the al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan is a flagrant violation of the Doha Agreement. After the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, the Taliban promised not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist organization to operate in areas under their control or to threaten American interests.

At the time, the secretary of state pledged Washington’s support for the Afghan people “in the face of the Taliban’s unwillingness or inability to comply with their obligations to support the Afghan people with strong humanitarian assistance.”
