UN Security Council report reveals the crimes of Al Sarraj against migrants
United Nations Security Council report
accuses the government of Al-Sarraj of violation and torture of refugees and irregular migrants in Libya.
On July 31, 2020, more than 2,780 people, including 22% of children, were arrested in many centers.
The report appealed for the closing down of the centers that are deployed in the western region
the site of the government Al-Wefaq militia.
António Guterres, UN Secretary-General
“Nothing can justify the terrible conditions in which refugees and migrants are detained in Libya…I renew my appeal to the Libyan authorities to close all detention centers, in close coordination with United Nations parties”.
The migrants live in terrible situations and are exposed to bad behavior,
including torture, enforced disappearances and rape
in addition to a lack of food and health care.
Men and children are regularly exposed to violence
in an attempt to pressure their families into paying ransoms
Militias detain migrants and force them to participate in military activities,
where some of them are recruited with force
and another part is forced to repair or stock weapons belonging to armed groups
and if they try to escape, they are exposed to gunshot
Will the Security Council end the suffering of these migrants?
