UAE Red Crescent opens a temporary camp for those affected by the earthquake in Syria


The UAE Red Crescent opened on Saturday a temporary field camp of 50 tents for people affected by the earthquake in Syria.

The camp can accommodate 300 people and is equipped with beds, blankets, solar lights and food parcels to provide shelter for those affected by the earthquake.

The opening ceremony was attended by Abdulhakim Al-Nuaimi, Charge d’Affaires at the UAE Embassy in Damascus, Hamoud Abdullah Al-Junaibi, Secretary-General in charge of the UAE Red Crescent Society, and a number of officials.

“The aid provided by the UAE is still ongoing, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership in Operation Gallant Knight 2,” said Abdul Hakim al-Nuaimi. “Today, the first temporary shelter area, which was established based on data and data released by the relevant authorities, is being opened in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent to serve as a temporary shelter for the most affected families.

“The delegation in Syria continues to provide all forms of support to those affected by the earthquake,” said Mohammed Khamis al-Kaabi, head of the UAE Red Crescent delegation in Syria. He said opening a temporary field camp for residents was based on the highest standards, with follow-up on their conditions and full provision of their basic needs.
