Yasser Al-Atta responds to Kabashi: “The People’s Resistance is above our heads”

Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Army, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, launched an attack on Deputy Army Commander Shams Al-Din Kabashi, following his derogatory statements about the Muslim Brotherhood made three days ago.

Al-Atta praised the popular resistance, which he believes is vital against the “Kizan” and remnants of the old regime, for fighting alongside the army. He considered Kabashi’s criticism as mere words tossed by the wind, in response to Kabashi’s criticism of the popular resistance and his warning about its future danger if not controlled.

Yasser Al-Atta stated in new remarks: “The popular resistance defends the homeland, and everyone in Sudan should align and organize within it.”

He emphasized that “it is essential to establish elected popular resistance in neighborhoods,” explaining that some of them fight on the battlefield with the army, while others secure neighborhoods and contribute to civil tasks in all aspects.

He stressed that the popular resistance should not be linked to remnants of the previous regime, and that the “Kizan” now include members of different political backgrounds, communists, and dissidents.

He mentioned that everyone fighting alongside the army, whether from the “Kizan,” angry youth, or the resistance, are all above us, and we owe them all respect.

He confirmed that the popular resistance has six battalions currently fighting alongside the army, saying: “There are three battalions from the Nuba Mountains in Omdurman fighting within the ranks of the popular resistance in the capital, and there is a battalion from Darfur in Omdurman fighting within the popular resistance in the capital.”

It is worth mentioning that Al-Atta is the right-hand man of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, targeting Sudanese civilian forces and Arab and Western countries seeking to stop the fighting in Sudan.
