Los Angeles Fires: “Evacuation of 85,000 People and Hollywood Seasons on Hold”

Authorities in Los Angeles, the largest city in California, USA, issued evacuation warnings on Tuesday for nearly 85,000 people.

This warning comes as strong winds are expected over the next two days, creating dangerous conditions as several major wildfires continue to burn in the Los Angeles area.

As of Tuesday morning, approximately 88,000 people were already under evacuation orders due to the fires, and around 84,800 more were warned that evacuation orders might also be issued for them.

Los Angeles County authorities urged residents to consider leaving as soon as a warning is issued, without waiting for an official evacuation order.

The fires, which have disrupted daily life and work in the Los Angeles area, have also caused a rare and temporary suspension of Hollywood’s awards season.

Near-daily updates are being issued by Hollywood unions and organizations that organize award shows, as the industry works to navigate this ongoing crisis.

Oscar nominations have been postponed twice, and some announcements by unions have been delayed with no new dates set.

The only major event officially postponed so far is the Critics’ Choice Awards, which were originally scheduled to take place on January 26.
