United Arab Emirates-China project to produce Sinopharm
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi launched the joint project “Life Sciences and Vaccine Manufacture in the UAE between the G-42 Group of the UAE and the Chinese Sinopharm Group, by which the first production line (COVID 19) was announced between the two groups.”
In statements yesterday, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirmed that “the United Arab Emirates and China are inaugurating a new chapter in the history of their historical and extraordinary relationship, entitled “A strategic partnership for humanity”. He said : “We celebrate the major achievements of our comprehensive and private strategic partnership on all levels, and continue the work we have started together since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has served as a pioneering model for joint cooperation between friendly countries in confronting the challenges.” He stressed that the benefits of this important project are not limited to the two countries, but also the whole world.
He added that the joint project, “Life Sciences and Vaccine Manufacture in the United Arab Emirates”, is a qualitative addition to the international efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the whole world. He emphasized that the UAE believes in the importance of strengthening collective international action to fight this pandemic, and moving forward towards controlling their consequences and addressing its consequences for the safety of people and the security and stability of societies.
Liu Jingzhen, Chairman of the Chinese “Sinupharm” Group, said in his speech during the ceremony : “Today, we are taking a huge step in the journey to fight the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” he said, noting that this pioneering project was the result of close cooperation and strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and China and their pioneering efforts to confront this pandemic.
The UAE has paved the way for the registration, production and commercial provision of the Sinopharm vaccine, which represents the pioneering efforts of the two friendly countries to recover from this pandemic, he said. The new joint project will play an active role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in the UAE, the Arab world and the world, he said, adding that this project will make important contributions to enhancing the health and safety of communities.
Afterwards, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyane and Wang Yi announced the official launch of the project and the launch of the first production line and manufacture of the COVID-19 vaccine in the United Arab Emirates.
