Threat Call: How the Mossad Tried to Shake Iran

In times of war, intelligence agencies operate under the cover of missiles and airstrikes—to infiltrate, issue warnings, or spread fear.

The war between Iran and Israel is no exception. Reports have revealed that Israeli intelligence agents made dozens of ominous phone calls to senior Iranian generals earlier this month, giving them a choice: flee with their families or face certain death.

In an audio recording obtained by The Washington Post, an Israeli intelligence agent is heard telling a senior Iranian general: “I can give you advice now. You have 12 hours to flee with your wife and child. Otherwise, you’re on our list.”

The agent continued, “We will strike you, your family, and your children,” making it clear that he was giving the IRGC general a “12-hour deadline” to escape.

The call—one of at least 20 made to senior regime officials—was placed just hours after Israel began launching strikes on Iran as part of the Rising Lion operation on June 13, according to multiple sources familiar with the operation cited by The Washington Post.

The Israeli agents, likely working for the Mossad, contacted high-ranking Iranian officials as part of a covert effort to destabilize and divide the regime through fear tactics.

The threats were delivered in Farsi, the official language of the Middle Eastern state.

During the call, the Mossad agent warned the confused Revolutionary Guard general: “As I said, you have 12 hours from this very minute to flee. If you don’t, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.”

He added, “We are closer to you than the vein in your neck… keep that in mind.”

During the 12-day war, Israel killed a number of top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists.
