Analysts Reveal Ennahdha Movement’s Plans to Ignite Tensions in Tunisia

The Muslim Brotherhood in Tunisia continues its efforts to tarnish the electoral process by fueling tensions and manipulating public opinion. This was hinted at by Tunisian President Kais Saied during his meeting with Interior Minister Khaled Noor and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior, responsible for national security, Sofiane Bel-Sadik. Observers believe that there are “Brotherhood plots aimed at exacerbating the situation to create confusion and chaos in the country, with the goal of derailing the upcoming presidential elections.”

One of the most critical issues currently is the potential classification of the Ennahdha movement in Tunisia as a terrorist organization or its dissolution by a court ruling, linked to several cases being reviewed by the judiciary and the leaders who have been detained in connection with these cases.

Exposing the Brotherhood‘s Plot

In this context, Tunisian political analyst Mohamed El-Maidani said: “Since it came to power, the Ennahdha movement has managed to plant its supporters in state institutions to serve its interests, knowing that its time in power would be short after it had spread corruption throughout the country.”

The Tunisian political analyst explained that the group embedded within the state’s apparatus is working to aggravate tensions by cutting off water and electricity to the people to provoke their anger, especially during this electoral period. He added that “the Brotherhood‘s sole concern is to regain power and influence.”

He continued by stating that there is an alliance between the Brotherhood and corrupt lobbies to destabilize the general situation and escalate tensions by highlighting the economic and social challenges facing the country. He noted that President Kais Saied has been engaged in a “fierce battle against the Brotherhood since taking office after confirming their involvement in terrorism, assassinations, and financial corruption.”

Dissolution of the Ennahdha Movement

Tunisian MP Fatma Mseddi asserted that the Ennahdha movement has lost its influence in Tunisian society. She confirmed that in July of last year, she had submitted a political motion to the Parliament to classify the Ennahdha movement as a terrorist organization and called for its dissolution.

She added, “We are in the process of collecting all judicial rulings against the Ennahdha movement and are awaiting the issuance of these rulings, especially the verdict in the assassination cases, to file a lawsuit seeking the dissolution of the movement. At that time, the case will be filed in the name of several members of Parliament.”
