Attack on State Security: Tunisian investigation targets former ministers


The Tunisian judiciary has opened an investigation against 25 people, including journalists, politicians and former ministers, on charges of attacking state security.

Sources said that the investigating magistrate of the Court of First Instance in Tunis agreed to open an investigation against 25 people, including politicians, former ministers, businessmen, and journalists, on charges of forming a “reconciliation” to attack state security and carry out a brutal order against the President of the Republic.

The sources added that among the names are Youssef Chahed’s minister of international investment, Fadhel Abdelkefi, Mahdi Jomaa’s minister of finance, Hakim Ben Hammouda, Maya El Qusouri, a media personality and presenter of political programs, Malak El Bakkary, artist Saoussen Maalej, the outgoing advisor to Tunisian President Kais Saied, Nadia Akacha, and the former advisor to the Prime Minister, Youssef Chahed, Mufadi El Masdi.

The sources said that these individuals had contacts with unidentified foreign elements who were seeking to overthrow Tunisian President Kais Saied.

The sources indicated that initial investigations confirmed the existence of telephone calls between the foreign elements and the mentioned persons, and that they were seeking to undermine Tunisian security.
