Bilateral Relations discussed in talks between Abdullah bin Zayed and the President of Paraguay

 

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, discussed avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation with President Santiago Peña of Paraguay.

President Peña received Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the capital, Asunción, in the presence of Robin Ramírez, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Lea Jiménez, the Chief of the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay, Carlos Paladino, the Minister of Economy and Finance, and Javier Jiménez, the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed greetings from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and his wishes for the progress and prosperity of the Republic of Paraguay and its people.

In return, President Peña and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay conveyed their greetings to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and their wishes for the continued prosperity and success of the United Arab Emirates, praising the excellent relations between the two countries.

The discussions covered enhancing relations in various areas, including developmental, economic, commercial, industrial, investment, renewable energy, and climate, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The talks also touched upon several regional and international issues of mutual interest, with both sides exchanging views on them.

During the meeting, President Peña was informed about the United Arab Emirates’ preparations to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). He commended the UAE’s significant contributions to global climate action and its ambitious climate neutrality strategy.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that addressing climate change requires an inclusive and innovative international cooperative approach that leads to tangible progress in the global climate action system. He highlighted that COP28 would provide opportunities to build capacities, crystallize practical solutions, and mobilize efforts to achieve progress in climate action that supports the aspirations of peoples for comprehensive and sustainable development.

He also affirmed the depth of the friendship between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Paraguay, expressing both countries’ desire to elevate their bilateral relations towards broader prospects of growth and development in all fields, in line with their development visions. He noted the UAE’s keenness to enhance its constructive international partnerships based on cooperation, mutual understanding, respect, and common interests.

On his part, President Peña expressed his pride in the friendly relations with the United Arab Emirates, praising the positive and influential roles the country plays at both the regional and international levels.
