China: 6 Killed in a Famous Park Due to Lightning Strike

Six people were killed, and ten others injured when a lightning strike caused a building to collapse in the famous “Fangmushan” park in eastern China, official media reported on Monday.

The incident occurred on Sunday in the city of Changzhou, about 150 kilometers northwest of Shanghai.

The injured were taken to the hospital where they are receiving treatment, and their condition is stable, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

An investigation into the accident is underway, according to the state-run CCTV.

It is worth noting that the country has experienced extreme weather conditions in recent months, including heavy rainfall in the east and south, while the north has seen unusually high temperatures.

Scientists link these extreme conditions and their increasing intensity to climate change, which is associated with greenhouse gas emissions.
