Dbeibeh appealed Russia to remove Wagner Forces from Libya


The Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdulhamid Dbeibeh appealed Moscow to exert pressure on the Russian Wagner company to remove its forces from the country.

This actually came after that the UN Security Council unanimously issued a decision that appeals for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave from Libya and allows a UN team to manage the ceasefire agreement.

Dbeibeh, in a statement published after a gathering with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin, called the Russian side to pressure the Wagner group in this subject. He also gathers with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. They later held a common press conference, when Dbeibeh requested for Russia’s help in overcoming the division and finish the war.

The PM affirmed: Our first goal is to ensure the unity, stability, security, and development of our country, asking Russia’s help in uniting the military establishment.

Propagation of armed militias

In the meantime, activists and locals diffused videos that presenting a sudden deployment of armed militias in many suburbs of Tripoli, after that forces directed by Abdul Ghani ‘Ghneiwa’ al-Kikli, detained members of the Special Deterrence Force.

Moreover, sources stated that the disagreement happened after that the public prosecutor issued a detention authorization for one of Kikli’s bodyguards on accusations of involvement in a criminal issue.

On his part, the head of Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar, welcomed on Thursday, a delegation of the tribe of Mohamed al-Menfi, the chief of the Presidential Council.

Besides, Haftar’s office published a statement noting that the Menfi delegation expressed thanks to the commander for his efforts and confirmed their support to the army in imposing security and eradicating terrorism and armed militias in the country. Haftar also expressed his profound thankfulness for their continuous support.
