For 13 consecutive days, UAE continues to send aid to Turkey and Syria


For the thirteenth consecutive day, the UAE continues to send relief aid to those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey as part of Operation Gallant Knight / 2 through 58 cargo planes to Syria and 39 cargo planes to Turkey so far.

A total of 97 flights carried 2,624 tons of food, medical supplies and tents.

Earlier, the UAE announced an additional $50 million in aid to help those affected by the earthquake in Syria.

The earthquake, which hit Syria on November 6th and its epicenter is in neighboring Turkey, killed about 40,000 people in both countries.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered an additional US$50 million to provide relief to those affected by the earthquakes in Syria.

The United Nations on Tuesday launched an emergency appeal for $397 million to help victims of the three-month earthquake in Syria.

Last week, the UAE initially announced $13.6 million in relief aid for Syria, before pledging an additional $50 million.

Since the early hours of the disaster, the UAE has rushed tons of food aid, relief and medical supplies and a 42-member specialized search and rescue team to the heavily-hit coastal city of Jableh, which was severely affected by the earthquake.
