The G20 Summit witnessed a distinctive Emirati presence and a sustainable vision

Every year, the United Arab Emirates demonstrates to the world the effectiveness and efficiency of its political strategy as a nation that seeks global peace under the guidance of its wise leadership. This strategy is built on investing in global well-being and envisioning a world without problems.

The credit for this goes to the wise leadership’s directives and a visionary strategy aimed at elevating the UAE’s status to become one of the world’s best nations by 2071.

The UAE consistently collaborates with various countries worldwide to drive sustainable development and implement numerous groundbreaking global projects in the field of energy. It also supports commitments and priorities set by international charters and norms, aligning with the forward-looking directives of its leadership to enhance the energy sector.

Invitation to the G20 Summit

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, participated on Saturday in the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India. The summit brought together leaders of G20 member states, heads of their governments, representatives from the European Union, international and United Nations organizations, invited guests, and stakeholders at various levels.

The United Arab Emirates participated as a guest in the 18th G20 Summit for the year 2023, following an invitation from the Indian presidency. This marks the second consecutive invitation, as the UAE was similarly invited by the Indonesian presidency for the 2022 G20 Summit.

The UAE previously participated in the G20 Summit in 2020 under the Saudi Arabian presidency and in 2011 under the French presidency, within the framework of its periodic presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The summit, held on September 9th and 10th, 2023, under the theme ‘One Earth… One Family… One Future,’ conveys a strong message reflecting India’s presidency and objectives: striving for equitable and just growth for all by enhancing the interconnection of all aspects of life on planet Earth.

The UAE as a Global Player

The world views the United Arab Emirates as a decisive global player, engaged in global financial issues. The UAE enhances its role as an honored guest at previous G20 Summits through its commitment to economic cooperation and ensuring the stability of global energy markets as a trusted energy supplier. The UAE continues to double its efforts in the clean energy sector and sets ambitious strategies to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

Success of the UAE’s Role in the G20

During the ongoing summit, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has made a significant impact among the leaders of the G20 countries, since his reception by Narendra Modī, the Prime Minister of India, at the summit venue. On the sidelines of the summit, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held fruitful meetings with several participating leaders and officials, discussing ways to collaborate in addressing common challenges, achieving sustainable development, and fostering prosperity for all.

The United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of India, the United States of America, and European Union member states, through a memorandum of understanding, expressed their aspiration to work together to establish a corridor linking India to the Middle East and then to Europe. This corridor is expected to stimulate economic development by enhancing connectivity and economic integration between these regions.
