IA: Elon Musk launches xAI to understand the universe
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence (AI) company, whose mysterious mission is expected to be unveiled in more detail on Friday.
The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe.
On Twitter, Musk explained that xAI had the ambition to “understand reality”. The site is announcing a question-and-answer session on Friday on the tweet network to talk about this newcomer to AI.
What we know about xAI
The company xAI was formally established in Nevada in March, according to the state’s company registry, but says its technical team is located in the San Francisco, California area. When it was recorded, xAI mentioned Musk as its director.
The billionaire admitted several months ago that he had bought a large quantity of graphics processing units (GPUs), essential for developing artificial intelligence (AI) software, without revealing what he intended to do with them.
“We are a separate company from X Corp,” the holding company that controls Twitter, among other things, “but we will work closely with X, Tesla and other companies to advance our mission,” the officials say on the xAI website.
Musk already owns Tesla, SpaceX aerospace company, Twitter, and The Boring Company and Neuralink, which specializes in neural implants.
The xAI team is made up of AI experts, many of whom come from OpenAI, the startup that created the chatbot ChatGPT, as well as Google and Microsoft, Radio-Canada reports.
