Labor strikes, protests prevail in Iran … and this is the regime’s position

Large-scale labor strikes have hit Iranian factories and oil facilities in recent days, threatening to paralyze entire sectors.

The workers of Baya Made went on strike at the Petrobalash refinery yesterday, and left the workshop, in protest of not increasing their wages in the Iranian New Year.

On the same day, contract workers at the Daralu Kerman Copper Mine, Khatunabad Kerman Copper Mine, Adish Kerman Refinery, Wlad Serjan Expansion, Musa Sargam, Bad Game 2 Refinery, Astakgar Asphalt Group and welders at Ataei Reservoirs joined the strikes, Iran International reported.

Some reports indicate that the strike of workers of the company (Band Custer Speed Road Sergan) continued yesterday.
Workers in these factories and companies went on strike to protest the government’s decision to increase workers’ wages by 27%, not to pay arrears, and to improve working conditions.

Exclusive reports received by Iran International showed that a strike by oil, gas and petrochemical entrepreneurs is continuing, in protest at the lack of wage increases, and that more workers have left their workshops.
These union strikes and protest gatherings have always taken place in past years, and Iran’s regime did not meet protesters’ demands, instead increasing the pressure on union activists.
