Libya … A forthcoming visit of the new President of the Presidency Council to Egypt

Libyan sources expect the new head of the Libyan Presidency Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, to visit Cairo within days, consolidate relations between the two neighboring countries, confirm good neighborliness and cooperation constructive and establishes a new stage in which a comprehensive partnership in all files will be the basis for the future.

She said the new Libyan authority would depend on its Arab environment, with Cairo at the center.

On his first official visit outside Libya, Cairo on Thursday received the new Libyan prime minister, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, and welcomed his presidential level to the visit. Observers of the Libyan affairs also praised the visit and the meeting of the new Libyan prime minister with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Commenting on this, Libyan writer and political analyst Muhammad Al-Amami said the visit was a Libyan step in the right direction, noting the previous positions of the Egyptian president, in which he stressed that Egypt’s security is one of Libya’s securities, and that she is a strategic depth for her.

Sky News Arabia quoted Al-Amami as saying that the new Libyan authorities are looking to take advantage of the many Egyptian experiences, saying Cairo is interested in the stability and comfort of Libya and their people, and expects no return from this, underlining that Egypt is particularly interested in the issue of securing her borders with their western neighbor, and the prevention of terrorist and mercenary infiltration.

The writer and political analyst reminded President Sisi’s position when he declared Sirte – Al-Jufra a red line, which led to practically stopping the fighting on the ground and opening the way for the warring parties in Libya to return to the negotiating table and resume political dialogue tracks, which ended with the selection of those responsible for forming the new executive authority.

He pointed out that some might be bothered by this rapprochement, especially the external parties that intervened in Libya in order to plunder their economic wealth, advising everyone to follow the Egyptian way in dealing with the Libyan issue, and to search for harmony between the Libyans and not feed the conflict with weapons and foreign fighters.
