Erdogan: Our relationship is good with Bashagha.. What’s important is who the Libyans choose

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed on Wednesday the importance of Libyans ultimately choosing in elections when asked about the nomination of a new prime minister by the Libyan parliament.

Last week, the House of Representatives spokesman announced the nomination of Fathi Bashagha as the new interim Prime Minister, after the withdrawal of a rival candidate, while the incumbent government leader, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, announced that he would not step down.

Erdogan told reporters on the return trip from the UAE, where he had a two-day visit: “Fathi Bashagha has announced his candidacy, and our relations with him are good. On the other hand (relations) are also good with the Dbeibeh”.
“The important thing is who chooses the Libya’s people and how”, he was quoted by Turkish media as saying.
